Dogu

Dogu is human shaped terracotta figurines made in ancient Japan thousands years before. It is believed to be made to wish and pray, not for fun nor appreciating.

I had a chance to visit an unique exhibition on Dogu held at Miho Museum ( related page is here ) when I went back to my hometown last month. They were all impressive for me, primitive but innocent, and yet amazingly dynamic and expressive.
