Candle tower

A white tower stands in front of Kyoto station is for tourists observation, not for any other functional reason. I don't think it is a good idea to build such a tall tower in the center of the old town like Kyoto, but half a century after its completion it had became an icon of the city.

The tower is also called candle tower, I don't know if it was designed in imitation of a candle or just named after. I believe Marine tower in Yokohama is much nicer ( related page is here )
