low steps

Stone steps were on a gentle slope in front of the old temple, KaiDanIn in Nara. It was hard for us to go up step by step because each steps were so low. Then I noticed it was made for those who wears Kimono, not trousers with shoes, especially a Buddhist priest's heavy wearing could be imagined when we think of the ritual purpose of this temple. These steps should be for praying, not for convenience of course.
