Yoshio Taniguchi

This new building is Kanazawa Museum of Architecture designed by Yoshio Taniguchi ( related page is here and here ), and its major collection is the works of his father Yoshiro Taniguchi, the great architect who was active in 1950's - 1970's.

The building is not big and doesn't even have its parking lot, since it's in the city center where small old houses are densely built.

Although its compactness, the simple composition of the modern materials such as metal panel, metal lattice, glass wall and concrete makes the appearance clean with presence.

The quiet courtyard is for nothing but creating rich atmosphere.

The detail of the stairways is one my favorite in this gallery.

Clean, compact and simple must be the key factors for both modern and traditional architecture of Japan.
