rusty plastic

Yuma Kato invented the methodology to transfer the metal rust to plastic, don't know exactly how though, and applied the idea to furniture design. The works pictured below look a little bit wild, but I think it has a great potential for the interior decoration.

wooden grid

The wooden grid frame looks covers the outside of the apartment I saw in Tokyo. I guess it's not the main structure that supports the building itself but only for the balconies.

bamboo work

I saw a very bold bamboo craftwork in a museum, guessing it's an ornament covering of a flowor vase for Ikebana installation. You might notice if you see it carefully that it's made from a single bamboo stick cut and opened. Amazing handwork, isn't it? ( related page is here )

neck speaker

This U-shaped device is not a headphone but a "neck" speaker from Sony. It's not for portable audio to go outside, but only for indoor use specifically for TV sets. The soft fabric covers inside the device and sound comes out from the slits on the both side. Very unique design, although I don't know who need this. Maybe for elderly people having poor hearing?

gold fish

The gold fish drawn on the plate makes me feel cool in the extreme heat of this summer. This beautiful artwork is by Yukio Nishi, Kutani ceramic artist.

On August 6th in 1945, the United States blasted the atomic bomb over Hiroshima and killed instantly around 60,000 civilians in the single explosion, more than 140,000 people by the end of the year and 300,000 people until today have died.

This picture below is one of the pages of "The effects of Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki" by the US strategic bombing survey in 1946. The visualization of the event is saying that the red zone is extent of fire, but reality is mostly blew up without a trace.

No nukes, no war. All we are saying is give peace a chance.
